Gisela Binder (Christopherson)

Gisela Irma Christopherson passed away peacefully at her home in Orem, Utah on Saturday, September 17, 2005 surrounded by her husband, sister and loving children and family. Gisela fought a heroic battle with cancer. She was born January 13, 1944 in Berlin, Germany to her earthly parents, Karl Thomas Binder and Dora Ida Rudolph. Gisela, her sister and parents survived the horrors of World War II during the darkest days of that terrible war. After escaping a Russian Prison Camp, her father decided to bring his little family to America and live in a free society. At Christmas time 1949 they arrived in Provo, Utah and began a new life. The family faced many challenges. They were strong as they made a better life in America.

Gisela graduated from Orem High School. She also graduated from Mary's Career College. She married Alan J. Christopherson in the Manti LDS Temple and they are the parents of eleven children and sixteen grandchildren. During her mortal life Gisela was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.

She worked for over eleven years as a cross-guard in Orem and as a playground supervisor at the Cherry Hill Elementary School. Many children called her Mrs. C. Because a number of years ago one little boy couldn't pronounce her name and she told him to call her Mrs. C. All the children loved her and knew of her love for them. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. Her rich and generous life was a great blessing to all of us.

Alan and Gisela's son, Gary Christopherson passed away on September 9, 2005. As Gisela moves on into the arms of a loving Heavenly Father and Gary she leaves behind her husband, Alan J. Christopherson, her mother, Dora Binder, her sister Christa Jensen of Decater, Alabama, her children, Karl (Emily) Christopherson of Orchard Park, New York, Lorie Rowley of Orem, Lynn (Melanie) Christopherson of Pl.
