Obituary for Elden "Bob" Robert Ellertson

(this is a delayed notice as we were just informed of his passing)

Elden Robert "Bob" Ellertson passed away at his home peacefully in the morning on Thursday, July 18, 2019. He was born October 28, 1944, in Provo, Utah. A son of Paul and Mable Ellertson. He married the love of his life, Sheila Rae Pierce in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1967. 

He received an Associates in Aerospace. Then continued his education at Brigham Young University and received a double Bachelors Degree in the Book of Mormon, Archeology, and Geology.   

He developed a love for flying at a very young age. When he was 17 he received his Pilots License from the Flying Club at the Provo Airport. Then later bought a Cherokee 150 and the family made many wonderful flights between Reno and Utah. 

He lived in many places such as Carmichael, CA; Kamuela, HI; Cupertino, CA; Nevada; then resided in Utah for the past 37 years. 

He had many wonderful callings in his church. He served as Bishop in two wards, High Priest Group Leader, Scout Master, Elders Quorum President, Emergency Preparedness Specialist and always a missionary. 

He loved astronomy, science, and to see the world. He won many awards, which included trips to Bermuda and Greece. He also won a complete kitchen remodel. 

Survived by: His love, for time and all eternity Sheila Rae, his sisters Carol Thomas and Mary Marchbanks, his children Leeja (Glen) Gammell, Mike Ellertson, Jim (Sara) Ellertson, Donny (Lilyah) Ellertson, John (Rachel) Ellertson, Keara (Justin) Wright, 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. 

Proceeded in Death: His parents, brother Paul, cousins Gary Dillingham/Randy Garrett, a friend (considered brother) Jared Larsen.  

A Visitation will be held Monday, July 29th from 6-8 pm at Utah Valley Mortuary, 1966 West 700 North, Lindon, Utah,

Funeral services for Bob will be held Tuesday, July 30th, at 10 am, at Noah's Event Venue, 1976 West 700 North, Lindon, Utah, where a visitation will be held prior to services from 9-9:45. Interment in Orem Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.

Marlena Sims (Meldrum)

I do not remember Robert, although I think he went by Bobby in H.S.   I am so impressed to see the many varied ways so many Orem High School graduates have contributed so much to society and community.   Robert certainly did exactly that and with gusto.

   My best regards to all of his family and friends, for I am sure that he will be sorely missed.
