Richard William Thatcher

Richard William Thatcher, age 60, lost his valiant fight against cancer on October 19, 2004. He was born August 6, 1944 in Mason City, Iowa, a son of William and Vera Grace Hall Thatcher. He married his forever sweetheart, Kathryn L. Woods on August 7, 1964 in the Logan Temple.

Richard graduated from Orem High School, and in 1966 earned a degree from BYU. He served in the National Guard for 10 years. He enjoyed working in the laboratory at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where he had been employed for 41 years.

He was a remarkable husband, brother, son, father, grandfather and friend. He will always be remembered for his integrity, kindness, gentle nature and zest for life. He loved Autumn, rain, restoring old cars, and time spent with family and friends. He was loved and admired by so many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Kathie of Orem; a son, Todd (Shanna) Thatcher; daughters, Michelle L. Morris; and Kimberlie (Victor) Tafolla; 9 grandchildren, Brittanie L. Thatcher, Gary Tanner Clark, Oaklie K. Young, Victor C. and Alyssa L. Tafolla; Alexis J. Thatcher, Sariah K., Dallin Richard and Aleah Kathryn Morris. He is also survived by 5 brothers, Robert E. Orr, Larry R. Anderson, Dennie L. Markey, Gary L. Thatcher, Donald M. Thatcher, and 1 sister, Janice Spilman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call Friday evening, from 6-8 p.m., or Saturday, one hour prior to services.

Interment, East Lawn Memorial Hills.
