Glenda Johnson (Carter)

 

1944–2017

Glenda Johnson Carter, 72, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 6th, 2017.

Glenda was born on July 25th, 1944 in Heber City, Utah to Andrew and Glenna Johnson. She married her high school sweetheart, Blaine Carter, on August 9th, 1963 in the Salt Lake City Temple, and have enjoyed 53 ½ years together since.

Together Blaine and Glenda had 1 daughter and 6 sons. They enjoyed camping, long rides, family vacations, weekends at the family cabin, but mostly spending time together.

Glenda was raised in Orem. She has two sisters and one brother. Her favorite childhood memories were spending time at the family sawmill in Wolf Creek.

When Glenda was seventeen, she got her first job at Kirk’s Drive Inn. It was while working at Kirk’s that Blaine asked her out on their first date. She worked at the Uintah National Forest Service as a typist, and for a time at Hercules Power Co. Her most beloved job was that of a wife and homemaker. After her children were raised, she worked for Macy’s department store and retired after ten years to take care of her parents.

Glenda loved gardening, crocheting, quilting, canning, and doing everything to make her family’s house a home. She was warm, loving, and a friend to all. She was the best wife, sister, aunt, friend, and grandma. She was the very best mom!!! She never missed an event or activity they were involved in.

Glenda is the heart of our family, is loved very much, and will be greatly missed.

Glenda is survived by her loving husband Blaine Carter, Children: Kyle Carter, Elaine (Dan) Johnson, Karl (Sunny) Carter, Rodney Carter, Robert Carter, Andy (Jill) Carter, and Richard Carter, 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 10th at 11:00AM at the Orem 2nd ward church building, 80 S 280 E Orem, UT 84058. A viewing will be held on Thursday February 9th from 6-8PM at the Walker Sanderson Mortuary, 646 E 800 N, Orem, Utah, and from 9:30-10:30AM at the church prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
