Harvey D. Mellor, of Woodburn, OR died June 10, 2013 at Salem Hospital. He was 69.

Harvey was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Robert and Ferris (Christensen) Mellor. The family moved to Marysvale, UT when he was a young child and lived there until he was 12. He learned his lifelong passion for tomatoes from his father and building and designing with wood from his Mother. His father taught him how to sell the tomatoes door to door in their small town which was the beginning of his lifelong desire to be his own boss. His mother would supply him with wood scraps, a nail and hammer and he would create all kinds of things in their family garage.

His family moved to Orem, UT where he went to Orem High School. He played the Clarinet, Saxophone, Piano and was the captain of the Tennis Team.

Harvey left Orem, UT and headed west to Seattle where he started a family and studied Carpentry. He started Mellor Construction, a custom remodeling and residential building company that lasted 25 years. He later moved to Salem and finally Woodburn, OR, where he started a custom soda distribution company which two of his children Dylan and Keir have worked to help him build over the past 20 years. He retired several years ago. In retirement Harvey worked on being the healthiest he could be introducing sprouts, wheat grass and growing all his own vegetables in his garden. He enjoyed sharing his vegetables and knowledge about healthy food with everyone he knew.

Harvey's philosophy to the very end was to learn something new every day.

He is survived by his children, Brandy Thibault of Seattle, WA, Keir Mellor of Woodburn, OR, Dylan Mellor of Wilsonville Or, two grandchildren Broek Dyer of Woodburn, OR and Ethan Hayes of Enterprise, OR as well as three sisters, Patricia Ferguson of Orem UT, Andrea Pickering of Springville UT, and Denise Mellor of Provo, UT.
