Obituary for Harold Fra 'Sweed" Russell 

August 19, 1944 - June 19, 2015

Harold Fra 'Sweed' Russell was born August 19, 1944, in Provo, Utah to Robert Harold Russell and Pauline Young Russell. Fra Attended various schools in the Orem area. After high school, he entered the U.S. Army where he received basic training and schooling for the Army Signal Corp. He was assigned to the 184th Ordinance Co. in Germany. 

Growing up, he worked side-by-side with his father where he learned auto mechanics. After his military service, he went to work at Barretts Garage in Provo. He later became the owner and operated it as 'Sweeds Barrett Garage' until he retired. 

He was a member of the Elks, Provo Lodge No 849, for 49 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting and his cabin at Soldier Creek.

Although he never married and had children of his own, he was adored by his nieces and nephews and looked upon as family by many friends and co-workers and their families. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who shared his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and friends. He is survived by his brother, Bob L. (Joyce) Russell of Lindon, Utah; sister, Janet (Douglas) Cook of Pleasant Grove, Utah and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank all of the medical personnel who assisted in his care during his illness.

Interment, with military honors, will be held at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery on July 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. A memorial in his honor will be held at the Veterans Memorial Site at the North side of the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 500 North Main (100 East), Pleasant Grove, Utah, that same afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.

I've know Fra since 4th grade at Union School in Vineyard.  However, I only saw him once many years ago.  I'm glad he had an enjoyable life!  He was a kind and generous person.  We've lost nearly 30 more classmates since our reunion in 2012.
